Biography

Phillip Johnson is a Professor of Law at King's College London, with a primary focus on intellectual property law. He also conducts research in legal parliamentary history, sports and entertainment law, private international law, and public law. A practicing barrister at the Intellectual Property Bar, he is a member of the Irish Bar, Californian Bar, and Washington DC Bar. His prior experience includes working as a government lawyer advising the Patent Office from 2003 to 2007, during which he contributed to the implementation of significant legislation such as the Patent Law Treaty and the Information Society Directive. He is a recognized author and editor in the field of intellectual property, with contributions to leading texts and journals. Currently, he is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and he serves as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, while also taking PhD supervisions.
