Biography

Phillip Quinn is an Associate Professor in the Accounting department at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington. He holds a PhD from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drake University, completed in 2005. His research interests lie in financial accounting, focusing on topics such as manager investor sentiment, incentives for tax efficiency, and the role of CFOs. Prior to attaining his current position, he served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington from 2014 to 2021. Quinn has been recognized for his teaching excellence with honors including the AAA/Deloitte Foundation/J. Michael Cook Doctoral Consortium Fellow in 2013, and the Byron Ross Award for Teaching Excellence in 2012. He was also a recipient of the Graduate College Summer Fellowship in 2012 and the Mary L. Collins Doctoral Fellowship in 2011. Additionally, he is a co-founder of the UW VITA program, which provides free tax assistance.
