Piero Gleijeses is the Christian Herter Professor of American Foreign Policy at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. He specializes in the impact of American foreign policy on international relations, particularly concerning Latin America and African conflicts. His notable works include 'Visions of Freedom: Havana, Washington, Pretoria: The Struggle for Southern Africa, 1976-1991' (2013) and 'Cuban Drumbeat: Castro's Worldview' (2009). He co-authored 'Cuba y África: Historia común de lucha y sangre' (2007) and has explored the complexities of U.S. interventions in his publications.
