Biography

Pierre-Jean (PJ) Hanard is an Associate Professor of Education at University College London, specializing in entrepreneurship education. He leads the Customer Development Lean Startup module for MSc Entrepreneurship and oversees the delivery of enterprise education within the UCL School of Management. Previously, PJ was a lecturer at the London College of Fashion, teaching the MA in Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He has also coached in the Advanced Leadership Initiative Program at Harvard University and collaborated with renowned figures like Professor Marshall Ganz and Otto Scharmer at MIT Sloan. With a background as an entrepreneur, PJ served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Citi Ventures, where he focused on innovation in banking. He co-founded a FinTech startup accelerator in French-speaking Switzerland and held a significant role at HSBC Private Bank as Chief of Staff to the COO. PJ holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and multiple degrees in Management Science and Marketing from institutions in Belgium and Italy. His research interests include the mental health and well-being of entrepreneurs, and he enjoys coaching startups across various sectors.
