Biography

Pierre Boyer-Mercier conducts research on housing from the perspective of neighborhood sociology and living modes. He has notably explored neighborhood relations in dense individual housing (intimacy and community relationships), living modes in intermediate housing (conviviality/mixity), and citizen relationships in different housing typologies. He is also interested in the history of privacy and the principles of 'new urbanism.' His work intersects with journalism and specialized publishing in architecture, being a co-founder of the journal ARQ/Architecture-Québec.
