Biography

Pierre Côté is a physician, researcher, and professor who has dedicated his career since 1988 to serving vulnerable and marginalized populations in Montreal. He has made significant contributions to the development of research and accessibility of healthcare for this clientele. From 1989 to 1999, Dr. Côté worked as a consultant physician specializing in HIV and addiction at the Department of Community Health at Saint-Luc Hospital. In 1999, he co-founded and led the HIV/Addiction Ambulatory Unit at the Research, Education, and Care Unit for AIDS at CHUM. Building on his expertise in urban medicine, Pierre actively participates in the training of students and healthcare professionals as a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the University of Montreal. His work has been recognized with several honors and awards, including the Heart and Action Physician Award from the Association of French-Language Physicians of Canada and the Tribute to Heroes Award from the Farha Foundation in 2000, the Phénicia Award for Social Involvement from the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Quebec in 2006, and the Excellence Award for Contribution to Community Life from the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2014.
