Pierre Marty holds a Ph.D. in Early Modern Art History from the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris, awarded in 2019. His doctoral thesis focuses on the memoirist and art patron Louis de Mondran (1699–1792). In 2020, he was awarded the Ourgaud prize by the Société Archéologique du Midi de la France. Pierre Marty's research interests include the connections between emerging drawing practices and their uses in relation to architecture and urbanism, particularly focusing on the embellishment of cities during the movement that spread across France in the latter half of the 18th century. He is currently conducting a research project at the University of Toronto that aims to study various aspects of the numerous unpublished documents related to provincial drawing academies that shaped the urban environment of 18th-century France.
