Biography

Pierre Michaud is a composer, clarinetist, and researcher born in 1974 in New Brunswick, Canada. He has been a professor of mixed composition at the Faculty of Music at the University of Montreal since 2012. After returning to Canada in 2000 from a six-year stay in Slovakia, he became interested in new technologies and their applications in the creative process. He holds a doctorate in composition from the University of Montreal and has studied at several institutions, including the Jan Levoslav Bella Conservatory and IRCAM in Paris. His research interests include comprovisation, interpreter-composer collaboration, interdisciplinarity, interactive spaces, and new forms of musical representation. His works have been featured in concerts and festivals across Canada, Central America, Asia, and Europe, performed by various ensembles and orchestras. He has received funding from multiple sources for his composition and research activities.
