Biography

Pierre Trudel is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law’s Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP) at the Université de Montréal. He has also served as a guest lecturer at Université de Laval, Université de Paris II (Panthéon-Assas), and Université de Namur in Belgium. His career includes notable positions, such as the director of Université de Montréal’s CRDP from 1990 to 1995 and as a research director for a federal government working group on broadcasting policy from 1987 to 1988. Professor Trudel’s teaching focuses on civil law, intellectual property law, and information law including cyberspace law. He has been involved in building media democracy training programs in countries such as Benin, Guinea, and Mali, supported by Canada's Foreign Affairs and Trade Development agency. He is an author of numerous books and articles on media law and information technology law, and he is currently engaged in research projects examining fundamental rights concerning information, personal data protection, judicial risks in e-government, and the methodologies associated with e-commerce and audiovisual law.
