Dr. Pieter Van Der Zaag

Biography

Pieter van der Zaag is a professor at the University of Groningen, specializing in the field of Microscopy and Radiology. He plays a critical role as a principal investigator in the Optical Molecular Imaging Groningen (OMIG) group, focused on advancing optical imaging technologies in medicine. His extensive expertise is further recognized through various leadership positions, including chairman of the NWO Physics Technology Instrumentation advisory committee and co-chair of the Intra-Operative Imaging study group for the European Society for Molecular Imaging (ESMI). He has contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge in molecular imaging techniques and their applications in medical settings. In addition to his research responsibilities, he is actively involved in educating the next generation of scientists and collaborating with other institutions to push the boundaries of optical imaging in medical diagnostics.
