Dr. Pieter Verrest

Biography

Pieter Verrest is a full professor at the Erasmus School of Law, specializing in Criminal Law. He has been actively involved in the legal framework surrounding the professional privilege to remain silent and has conducted comparative international legal research on this topic. His role extends to significant positions such as a substitute judge in the criminal law sector at the Court of Appeal in The Hague, and has responsibilities in various legal institutions. Notably, he presided over a committee concerning international criminal law and actively participates in the editorial board for Boom Strafblad at Wolters Kluwer. Verrest engages in education at multiple levels, leading courses on Advanced Substantive Criminal Law and various other aspects of Criminal Law at both bachelor and master levels.
