Pietro Majno-Hurst graduated in Milan and trained in general surgery in the UK, obtaining the FRCS (England). He joined the University Hospitals Geneva (HUG) in 1992, where he honed his skills in liver transplantation under the mentorship of Professor Henri Bismuth in Paris from 1996 to 1997. He is married to Samia Hurst-Majno, the Director of the Institute of Bioethics at the University of Geneva, and has four children.
