Dr. Pilar Gonalons Pons

Biography

Pilar Gonalons-Pons is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. Her research focuses on the intersections of work, families, and public policies, and she is particularly interested in how these factors contribute to economic inequalities. Gonalons-Pons's work examines the political economy of gendered caregiving and the implications of public policies on reproductive labor. She has published extensively in leading journals including the American Sociological Review and Demography. In addition to her research, Gonalons-Pons teaches courses on Sociology of Gender and Family Sociology and leads graduate-level reading groups. Her work has received several accolades, including the Devah Pager Outstanding Article Award from the ASA Inequality Poverty Mobility Section.
