Biography

Dr. Ping Wang received Bachelor and Master degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1994 and 1997, respectively, in Electrical Information Engineering, and a PhD degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2008, in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University and holds a Tier 2 York Research Chair. Before joining York University, he worked at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from 2008 to 2018. His recent research interests focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in communications and computing networks. His scholarly works have been widely disseminated in top-ranked IEEE journals and conferences. He received the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Survey Paper Award in 2023 and multiple Paper Awards at prestigious IEEE conferences such as WCNC in 2012, 2020, and 2022. He has been recognized with several awards including the York University Research Awards in 2022-2023 and the Lassonde Innovation Award in 2024. Dr. Wang is listed as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher from 2021 to 2025 and has been acknowledged in the Top 10 N2WOMEN Star Computer Networking and Communications 2023. He also ranks in Stanford's top 2% of the world's researchers. He serves as the Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials and as an area editor for IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, in addition to being an editor for several reputable journals and a Technical Program Committee Co-Chair for numerous conferences. He is an IEEE Fellow and has served as the ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer and the Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Distinguished Lecturer from 2021-2025.
