Biography

Ping Wu has a background in graduate education and postdoctoral training, having worked in Canada and Australia before moving to Singapore in 1995. He established the Computational Materials Science Department at the National Supercomputing Centre (NSTB, A*STAR) and has been its director until he accepted his faculty position at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Wu has held various adjunct academic appointments including Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University (2005-2011) and at the National University of Singapore (2000-2003). He has supervised over 10 PhD theses and more than 20 postdoctoral researchers in Singapore, with publications exceeding 250 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. His focus has been on commercialization and intellectual output, particularly in thermochemistry, with a notable database created alongside his colleagues, licensed to major universities and companies in North America, Europe, and Australia. His research interests encompass the development of new chemicals and structures for applications in sustainable energy and environment, with an emphasis on computational and experimental approaches.
