Pingbo Tang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He founded and directs the Spatiotemporal Workflows Resilient Management Laboratory (SWARM Lab). He obtained his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 2002 and a master's degree in Bridge Engineering in 2005 from Tongji University, China. Ongoing studies include the examination of sensing and modeling methods to understand Human-Cyber-Physical Systems (H-CPS) and to improve infrastructure operations such as airport operations and nuclear plant outage control. Tang has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and has received funding from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and NASA, among others. He holds leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and Transportation Research Board, and serves on the editorial board of the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering. He has received multiple awards for his research, including the NSF CAREER Award in 2015.
