Dr. Pingli Li

Biography

Pingli Li is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Accounting at Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. She has served as PhD Director and Programme Lead for MSc Accounting Management. Her research specializes in management control systems, corporate governance, and the impact of qualitative research methods, including ethnographic insights into the roles and independence of Board Directors. Throughout her career, she has published extensively in high-quality academic journals and reports aimed at practitioners and policymakers. Pingli has experience in teaching and supervising at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and she has acted as an external examiner for numerous degree programmes across various UK universities. Her ongoing research projects include governance management in public hospitals and the evolving roles of management accountants in different sectors. She is also an Associate Editor for Management Accounting Studies and a member of the Editorial Board for Qualitative Research in Accounting & Management.
