Dr. Pirooz Poursoltan

Biography

Pirooz Poursoltan is an Associate Professor at Macquarie University specializing in medical oncology. He has significant experience treating patients with lung, gastrointestinal, and breast cancers over the past decade. Poursoltan holds a Master's degree in Medicine and has researched molecular changes in lung cancer. In addition to his oncology training, he has worked in clinical genetics. He teaches in the MD program, lecturing first and second-year medical students on topics related to cancer management, chemotherapy, and cancer genetics, contributing to bedside teaching. As head of the medical oncology discipline, Poursoltan is heavily involved in clinical research conducted at Macquarie University Hospital (MUH), focusing on novel agents with potential anti-cancer effects and participating in phase 1, 2, and 3 trials. He collaborates closely with laboratory-based research to develop new anti-cancer treatments and is dedicated to advancing research and teaching aligned with MUH's mission of health, learning, and discovery.
