Biography

Piroze Davierwala is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and a Surgeon-Investigator at Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network. He completed his medical degree and General Surgery residency at the University of Pune, India, followed by a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery residency at the University of Mumbai. He furthered his training with a three-year clinical fellowship at the University of Toronto. His research interests encompass the entire spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures, including repairs of mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valves, as well as coronary artery bypass and aortic surgery. Dr. Davierwala has pioneered the development of techniques for multi-vessel total arterial minimally invasive coronary surgery using bilateral internal thoracic arteries, which has significantly contributed to advancements in cardiac surgery methodologies.
