Biography

Plinio Morita is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo, cross-appointed with Systems Design Engineering. His research interests encompass population-level surveillance, remote patient monitoring (RPM), and personalized medicine technologies that aim to reduce unnecessary healthcare visits and enhance community care through telehealth. With a background in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Campinas, Brazil, and a PhD in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Morita has also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Healthcare Human Factors. He actively supervises graduate students in research related to technology-driven population-level surveillance and precision medicine.
