Biography

Pnina Alon-Shenker is a professor at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law and the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University. She serves as the founding academic director of the TMU Law & Business Clinic. Prior to her academic career, she was a law clerk for Justice Dalia Dorner of the Supreme Court of Israel. Alon-Shenker has focused her research on labour and employment law, particularly workplace discrimination and diversity. Her work critiques contemporary legal analyses of age discrimination and proposes a new paradigm based on theories of equality. This research addresses practical legal challenges related to the aging workforce, such as mandatory retirement and accommodation of senior workers. She has received various awards for her scholarly contributions, including the Dean’s Scholarly, Research and Creative Activity Award in 2014 and the Provost's Experiential Teaching Award in 2016. Alon-Shenker is actively involved in academic publishing, co-editing several journals and contributing to important texts in the field of labour law.
