Dr. Po Chang Tseng

Biography

Po-Chang Tseng is a PhD student at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. He is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who completed specialized clinical training at National Taiwan University Hospital. As a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship, Po-Chang obtained an MSc in Global Mental Health from King's College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His academic credentials include an MD from Kaohsiung Medical University and DTM&H from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Po-Chang integrates research and clinical practice to promote the well-being of disadvantaged individuals. His field experience includes humanitarian efforts targeting displaced populations at the Thailand-Burma border and healthcare outreach in resource-limited communities in Burkina Faso. His current study adopts an interdisciplinary approach that combines mental health with bioethics and law to examine the mental capacity of minors. This investigation utilizes a mixed-methods design that employs natural language processing techniques to analyze legal documents, clinical records, and interview data. At the core of his research, he explores the freedom of expressed language. Additionally, Po-Chang is interested in exploring advocacy through art and creative writing as a way to address stigma and discrimination while advancing the rights of marginalized populations.
