Biography

Po-Chun Hsu’s research group aims to develop innovative materials for light and heat management, focusing on application-specific desired functions. He designs, synthesizes, and fabricates materials and devices with ideal photonic structures, chemical properties, and heat transfer characteristics. His focus areas include smart textiles, photonic fibers, solar desalination, and solid-state cooling. Dr. Hsu received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science Engineering from Stanford University in 2016, where his doctoral work involved radiative heating/cooling textiles, electrochromic devices, nanofiber electrospinning, and metal nanowire transparent electrodes. From 2016 to 2018, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, focusing on electrocaloric cooling and the thermal properties of van der Waals heterostructure materials. Emphasizing interdisciplinary, multiscale, solution-oriented research, Dr. Hsu aims to produce benefits for humanity through his work in materials science and heat transfer.
