Biography

Pola Cebulak is an Associate Professor of European Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds the JUDILL Jean Monnet Chair and her research focuses on the interplay between legal orders in a global context, the legitimacy of international institutions, and the core competences of EU Law. Cebulak has published works analyzing the relationship between the European Union and international law, particularly in the context of the Court of Justice of the EU and national courts adjudicating politically sensitive issues. She has a diverse educational background, having completed her law studies at Humboldt University in Berlin, and holds a double PhD from Université libre de Bruxelles and the University of Geneva. Cebulak has also gained experience working as a trainee at the Court of Justice of the EU and has held various academic positions, including a postdoctoral researcher at iCourts in Copenhagen. Her teaching expertise spans across European and international law across multiple languages including German, English, French, Dutch, Polish, Croatian, Japanese, and Spanish.
