Biography

Polk Wagner is the Michael Fitts Professor of Law and Deputy Dean at Penn Carey Law. He focuses on research and teaching in intellectual property law and policy, with a special interest in patent law. Wagner has written 20 articles covering topics including empirical analysis of judicial decision-making and the status of amendments in patent law. His scholarly work has appeared in prestigious journals such as the Stanford Law Review, Columbia Law Review, and University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He is also the co-author of 'Patent Law: Concepts and Insights' published by Foundation Press in 2008. In addition to his academic work, Wagner is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property topics worldwide. Before joining the Penn Carey Law faculty in 2000, he served as a clerk for Judge Raymond C. Clevenger III on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Wagner holds degrees from Stanford Law School, the University of Michigan, and the College of Charleston. He was a Roger M. Jones Fellow at the London School of Economics from 1994 to 1995.
