Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Poulumi Dey. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Poulumi Dey is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Delft University of Technology since September 2018. His scientific background shows a strong overlap between basic science and materials engineering. His research activities have primarily focused on ab-initio based designing of technologically relevant materials, such as high-strength steels to improve mechanical properties and widen their applicability. He performs principles-based studies to understand the precipitation behavior of complex metallic alloys. Additionally, he is actively involved in developing strategies to mitigate hydrogen embrittlement in steels and superalloys. Poulumi completed his Master of Science degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) in 2005, and he obtained his PhD degree in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics from IITG in 2011, with a thesis on “Disorder spin imbalance induced exotic phases in weakly coupled s-wave superconductors.” In February 2012, he joined the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung GmbH in Germany as a post-doctoral scientist, continuing his research activities there until August 2018.
