Biography

Dr. Prahlad Ho is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian Centre of Blood Diseases (ACBD) and a Clinical Laboratory Haematologist. He graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne and completed his haematology training at Austin Northern Hospitals in Melbourne. Dr. Ho is the Director of the Clinical Haematology Program and the Director of Diagnostic Services at Northern Health. He was the inaugural Director of Northern Pathology Victoria, overseeing the setup of a new public pathology service at Northern Health. As an honorary haematologist at Alfred Health and primary visiting haematologist at Northpark Private Hospital, he is actively engaged in clinical research, publishing in numerous international peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Ho completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne on a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)/Heart Foundation scholarship. He currently serves as an honorary/adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and heads the Haematology Research Unit at Northern Health, where he is the principal investigator in several malignant and non-malignant clinical trials. His specific research interests include investigating new biomarkers for thrombosis and the role of global coagulation assays in clinical practice. He is involved in various collaborative research projects related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on health and well-being.
