Dr. Pramod Mistry

Biography

Pramod K. Mistry, MBBS, PhD, FRCP, FAASLD, is a professor of medicine and pediatrics specializing in digestive diseases and gastroenterology at Yale School of Medicine. He was born in Kenya and raised in England. Dr. Mistry completed his MBBS and later pursued a PhD, focusing on the effects of dietary cholesterol on LDL receptor activity. His research journey was inspired by his training in the Brown Goldstein lab, which set him on a path as a physician-scientist in translational research. He is the director of the Yale Lysosomal Disease Center and has extensive clinical and research experience centered on inherited metabolic liver diseases, particularly Gaucher disease. His innovative research has led to the development of conditional mouse models of Gaucher disease and insights into genetic modifiers of this Mendelian condition. Dr. Mistry actively collaborates with international teams and has significantly advanced understanding in his field through numerous publications and clinical trials. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, including awards from the National Gaucher Foundation and participation in advisory boards. His clinical interests span various inherited metabolic conditions, and he has played a pivotal role in developing liver transplant programs at Yale.
