Biography

Dr. Puligandla attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada, medical school and graduated as a member of the Hippocratic Council Honor Society. He completed an adult general surgery residency along with a concurrent MSc in Respiratory Physiology in London before moving to the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for fellowships in pediatric surgery and pediatric critical care medicine. Since 2003, he has been a dually appointed pediatric surgeon and is recognized as one of Canada’s leading full scope pediatric critical care medicine practitioners. In 2008, he assumed the role of program director for the pediatric surgery fellowship training program at MCH. Currently, he holds the academic rank of Professor of Pediatric Surgery at McGill University. In 2018, Dr. Puligandla was elected to serve on the Pediatric Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery and leads initiatives in trauma and surgical critical care. He is also the co-Director of the Canadian Pediatric Surgery Network (CAPSNet), a national, population-based registry focused on infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia and gastroschisis.
