Dr. Praneeth Karimireddy

Biography

Sai Praneeth Karimireddy is an Assistant Professor at the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science at USC. He completed his doctoral studies at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and holds both a Master's and Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi. Prior to his current role, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher under Michael Jordan at UC Berkeley. His research focuses on data challenges in machine learning, particularly how data quality impacts ML systems. He investigates the factors that determine whether data is considered good or bad, highlighting the high cost and inaccessibility of valuable data like health records. He aims to utilize theories from optimization, statistics, and economics to address critical issues in building robust data infrastructures. Current research topics include Data Valuation and Data Markets, emphasizing the importance of a sustainable data ecosystem where individuals are compensated for their data contributions.
