I am a neurosurgeon with a strong research interest in several areas of neurosciences, including brain tumors and novel methods of treatment, spinal cord injury, and degenerative spinal disorders. I am currently involved in multiple projects that are either underway or in the planning stages, including randomized control trials. My current projects include the development of an animal model for spinal cord injury that closely mimics the common SCI seen in humans, in collaboration with the Surgical Orthopaedic Research Laboratory and Professor Bill Walsh. Additionally, I am evaluating the potential of cell membrane extracellular matrix in brain tumors to aid targeting, in partnership with the Lowy Cancer Institute and the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. I am also investigating the role of nanoparticles in the treatment of brain tumors, as well as conducting a randomized control trial on discogenic back pain and evaluating prognostic markers for diffuse glioma based on molecular characteristics.
