Dr. Preet Singh

Biography

Professor Preet Singh is a prominent faculty member in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology since July 2003. He has been actively involved in corrosion materials engineering, particularly in the pulp and paper industry, through fundamental and applied research. His prior experience includes a notable tenure at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, where he addressed critical corrosion issues. Singh also served as a Senior Research Associate at Case Western Reserve University, focusing on materials corrosion research and damage accumulation in metal matrix composites. He has developed significant insights into environmental-sensitive fracture in aluminum alloys and high-temperature oxidation in niobium-based composites. With over 50 publications in reputable scientific journals, he co-organizes international symposiums and is a member of several professional organizations, including NACE and TAPPI. His current research interests include energy storage, advanced structural materials, and the underlying mechanisms of material degradation in harsh environments. He is dedicated to educating students on material selection and maintenance within various industrial contexts, enhancing the reliability of materials in chemical processes.
