Dr. Premachandra Athukorala

Biography

Premachandra Athukorala is a Professor of Economics at the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University. He is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and an Honorary Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Manchester. His publications include significant works such as 'Trade Policy Issues in Asia' (Routledge, 1998) and 'Liberalization and Industrial Adjustment: Sri Lanka in International Perspective' (Oxford University Press, 2000). Athukorala has also served as a consultant for various international organizations, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and United Nations, focusing on economic issues in countries such as India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. His research interests encompass Development Macroeconomics, including capital flows and financial crises, as well as trade and development, particularly trade policy reforms and international labor migration. Athukorala has been recognized for his contributions to the field, including being listed in the Australian Who's Who in 2005, and has participated in numerous projects exploring economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region.
