Dr. Premkumar Natarajan

Biography

Prem Natarajan is the Executive Director at the Information Sciences Institute, overseeing its technical and operational strategies since July 2013. He previously spent 17 years at Raytheon BBN Technologies, a subsidiary of Raytheon Company, where he progressed through research and managerial roles, ultimately becoming vice president and principal scientist. His responsibilities included the development of technical strategies, identifying research areas, and pursuing new international markets. Notably, he launched initiatives in computer vision, human behavior modeling, and document image processing. Natarajan's research expertise encompasses speech recognition, language understanding, speech-to-speech translation, video analysis, content extraction, and machine learning. He holds both Master's and Doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Poona in India.
