Dr. Prithvi Mruthyunjaya

Biography

Prithvi Mruthyunjaya, MD, MHS is a Professor of Ophthalmology and a Professor of Radiation Oncology by courtesy at Stanford University. He serves as the Director of Ocular Oncology at the Byers Eye Institute and is a member of the Vitreoretinal Surgery Service. Dr. Mruthyunjaya is a board-certified ophthalmologist known for his expertise in the treatment of ocular cancers in both adults and children, including conditions such as ocular melanoma, retinoblastoma, and other complex retinal diseases. He completed his medical degree at Albany Medical College and underwent advanced fellowships in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Duke University and Ocular Oncology at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. His clinical focus includes developing personalized treatments for patients suffering from eye tumors and retinal diseases, and he actively participates in clinical trials to enhance treatment options. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Mruthyunjaya is involved in research related to ocular cancer imaging and genetics, contributing to several multi-center studies on ocular melanoma. He has received numerous awards for his academic contributions and teaching excellence, including inductions into the Global Retina Hall of Fame and multiple accolades from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
