Dr. Prithvi Sankar

Biography

Prithvi S. Sankar, MD, is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine, part of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the Director of Medical Student Education and holds the position of Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Residency Planning. Dr. Sankar completed his medical education at the University of Virginia, followed by residency training at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Health Network, and further specialized in glaucoma at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. His professional interests lie in the treatment of a wide range of glaucoma conditions, including angle-closure glaucoma, exfoliative glaucoma, and ocular hypertension. He has published several research articles focusing on the prevalence of primary open-angle glaucoma in African-American patients and has presented his findings at various national conferences. Dr. Sankar is actively involved in various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. He is recognized for his commitment to both patient care and medical education, ensuring that the next generation of ophthalmologists is well-prepared to address the challenges of visual health.
