Dr. Priya Sivaramakrishnan

Biography

Priya Sivaramakrishnan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She obtained her BSc in Zoology from Stella Maris College, University of Madras in 2006, followed by MSc in Human Genetics from Sri Ramachandra University in 2008, and her PhD in Molecular Human Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine in 2017. Her research focuses on understanding the dynamics of fundamental cellular processes crucial for developing cells, utilizing single-cell imaging and sequencing approaches to uncover principles that drive cell identity and dysregulated disease states. Current projects explore transcription dynamics, replication origins, noise in transcription, and their implications in cellular fate decisions, employing the C. elegans embryo model to track development at the single cell level. Additional focus areas include gene regulation and transcription-associated developmental disorders. She has published multiple articles in high-impact journals, contributing significantly to her field.
