Biography

Priya Vaughan is a Lecturer at the Black Dog Institute, part of the Medicine & Health Faculty at the University of New South Wales. With a research background in social anthropology, Priya takes an interdisciplinary approach to health research. She employs arts-based socially informed methodologies and knowledge translation strategies to facilitate mental health interventions. Her recent work has focused on embodied experiences of anxiety and the mental health impacts of COVID-19, particularly evaluating arts-based interventions in mental health research dissemination projects. Currently, Priya is involved in an ARC-funded project that uses body mapping to explore how women with disabilities and/or from refugee backgrounds cope with stigma and discrimination related to their mental distress.
