Biography

Priyank Chandra is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Information. Prior to joining the Faculty of Information, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Computer Science Department at the University of Toronto. He completed his PhD in Information at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Electronics Engineering. His professional experience includes education research and data analytics. Priyank’s research focuses on sociotechnical practices within informal communities at the margins of society. His interdisciplinary research is influenced by fields such as Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), and theories from Science and Technology Studies (STS), sociology, and development studies. He investigates the lived experiences of communities and critically assesses the design and evaluation of technologies and the role they play in social exclusion. His work is committed to developing socially ethical systems designed to support the needs of marginalized communities and individuals. Priyank's research has earned accolades at leading computing venues such as ACM CHI and CSCW.
