Dr. Priyanka Rana

Biography

Priyanka Rana is a researcher at the Centre for Health Informatics within the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. She received her PhD in Computer Science from UNSW Sydney in March 2023. Her research specializes in AI-based deep learning for biomedical image analysis at the cellular whole slide level. Priyanka's current work focuses on multiplex immunofluorescence imaging and multimodal datasets to predict immunotherapy responses in melanoma patients. She engages in developing generative models for data augmentation and stain imputation, while analyzing multi-channel images, designing novel algorithms to improve model generalization, and enhancing AI transportability across diverse datasets and sites. Her accolades include the Researcher of the Year Award from the CHI, recognition from the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation, and several grants fostering early-career research. She is passionate about teaching and supervising students in various computing topics, including Computer Vision and Human-Computer Interaction. Priyanka is actively recruiting MRes and PhD students for her key research areas, which include weakly supervised multimodal deep learning and advanced data augmentation.
