Biography

Promit Ghosal completed his Bachelor and Master of Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute. He earned his PhD in Statistics from Columbia University, New York. Before joining the University of Chicago as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics, he was a CLE Moore Instructor in the Department of Mathematics at MIT. Additionally, Dr. Ghosal spent a year as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Brandeis University. His research interests focus on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations, random growth models, the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation, conformal field theory, optimal transport, dynamics of AI algorithms, and Causal Discovery.
