Biography

Proton Rahman is an Associate Dean of Clinical Research and a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a clinician scientist and a rheumatologist practicing at Eastern Health. Dr. Rahman completed his medical school and internal medicine training at Memorial University before undertaking a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Toronto, followed by graduate training in genetic epidemiology. Dr. Rahman has initiated large-scale interdisciplinary projects, such as the Newfoundland Genealogical Kit, in collaboration with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and various research institutions. His contributions to rheumatology research have earned him numerous prestigious awards, acknowledging his influence and work in the field. He continues to publish extensively in top genetics and rheumatology journals, making significant contributions recognized at both regional and international levels.
