Biography

Kris (Pui Kwan) Ma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington. He is a trained clinical psychologist with a PhD in Clinical-Community Psychology from DePaul University, where he also completed a residency in the UW Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Integrated Primary Care track. His research interests primarily focus on health disparities, integrated behavioral health in primary care, cultural adaptations for diverse populations, and dementia caregiving. Dr. Ma collaborates with Dr. Kari Stephens’ research group on projects aimed at improving the quality of integrated behavioral health at the UW Northgate Neighborhood Clinic. His work is part of a large, pragmatic trial funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), which examines disparities in access to care in primary care settings. Additionally, he collaborates with the UW Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences’ Integrated Care Training Program to conduct qualitative research in Washington State, promoting the integration of psychologists into primary care.
