Biography

Professor Manchanda is the Isadore Leon Winkelman Professor of Marketing at the Ross School of Business. He previously served as the Chair of the Marketing Area from 2010 to 2016. Before joining Ross, he was on the faculty at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He holds a PhD and MPhil in Business from Columbia University, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, and a BS from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science. His professional experience includes a role in Marketing and Sales at Unilever. He has been a Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University and has taught at institutions such as London Business School and Columbia University. His main research interest centers on building empirical models to address strategic business and marketing policy challenges, focusing on customer engagement, pricing, targeting, and resource allocation. His recent work addresses marketing strategy issues in technology and platforms, including e-commerce, influencer marketing, and pharmaceuticals, employing methodologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. He has published over 40 papers in top academic journals and has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Ross Senior Faculty Research Award and being named to the Poets & Quants list of "Favorite MBA Professors." Professor Manchanda also consults for companies in various industries and is active in private equity and angel investing, with his commentary featured in leading business media.
