Dr. Qi Ming He

Biography

Qi-Ming He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Management Sciences. His research interests encompass Operations Research, Management Sciences, Applied Probability, and Matrix Analytic Methods. He has secured funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) for his current research, focusing on representations of phase-type distributions, the design of queueing systems with multiple customer types, and inventory systems for multiple-item demands. Professor He has published dozens of articles in various journals and authored the book "Fundamentals of Matrix-Analytic Methods" in 2013, which explores foundational techniques in matrix-analytic methods, stochastic modeling, and Markov chains. He is an active member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS). He has also played significant roles as Conference Co-Chair for the International Conference on Matrix-Analytic Methods and Stochastic Models from 2008 to 2016 and as a Co-Organizer for the Annual Conference for Canadian Queueing Theorists and Practitioners from 2007 to 2013.
