Biography

Qian Chen holds the position of Professor of Medical Science and the Endowed Chair for Orthopaedic Research at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is also the Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Orthopaedics. Chen is the director of the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Skeletal Health and Repair at Rhode Island Hospital, a multidisciplinary transnational research hub established with support from the National Institutes of Health. He completed his Ph.D. in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology at the Tufts University School of Medicine and pursued a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. His research primarily investigates cartilage molecular biology, the aging process, extracellular matrix components, epigenetics, RNA interference, mechanotransduction, osteoarthritis, and nanomedicine for gene therapy. Chen's achievements include receiving prestigious awards such as the Independent Scientist Award from the NIH and the Kappa Delta Award from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has actively participated in NIH study sections and served on advisory panels, contributing significantly to the field of orthopaedic research and education.
