Professor Huang's research focuses on engineering-informed machine learning, data analytics, and smart manufacturing, with special emphasis on Machine Learning for Additive Manufacturing (ML4AM), Integrated Nanomanufacturing, and Nanoinformatics. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and has received the NSF CAREER award along with numerous paper awards. His editorial roles include being Department Editor for IISE Transactions and Associate Editor for ASME Transactions: Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, as well as service as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering and IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters.
