Biography

Qiang (John) Ye received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2016. He joined the University of Calgary as an Assistant Professor in September 2023 after working at Memorial University of Newfoundland from September 2021 to August 2023, and Minnesota State University, Mankato from September 2019 to August 2021. Dr. Ye has published over 75 research articles in top-ranked journals and conference proceedings. He has held key roles as General, Publication, and Program Co-chair for reputable international conferences and workshops including IEEE ICCC'23 and IEEE INFOCOM'22. He serves as an Associate Editor for several top-tier IEEE Transactions and Journals including IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and IEEE Internet of Things Journal. Dr. Ye has received numerous accolades including the IEEE Communication Society Distinguished Lecturer designation for 2025-2026 and the Early Career Research Excellence Award from the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2024. His research areas focus on 5G/6G communication networking, network slicing, edge intelligence, digital twin AI-assisted wireless communication networking, and autonomous vehicular networks.
