Qihuang Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health at McGill University, where he leads the Statistical Genomics Intelligence Learning Lab (StaGILL). His research focuses on developing statistical machine learning methodologies to address challenges in genetics and genomics data. His recent work has centered on developing methods for processing medical images, spatial omics, and single-cell RNA-seq data. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Waterloo in 2020 and previously completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Prof. Zhang has experience in developing statistical methods and machine learning algorithms for dealing with data issues such as missing values, high dimensionality, and complex association structures. His methods have been applied to the analysis of bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, as well as spatial transcriptomics and metabolomics, with the aim of uncovering new insights related to Alzheimer’s Disease, COVID-19, and cancer.
