Biography

Qin Yan is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at Yale Medical School. He is a member of the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center, Yale Stem Cell Center, and Yale Center for Immuno-Oncology. His research laboratory focuses on elucidating the roles of epigenetic mechanisms in tumor initiation and progression, and translating these findings into clinical applications. Dr. Yan has made significant contributions to understanding the functions of KDM5 histone demethylases as epigenetic regulators of immune evasion and cancer metastasis. His education includes a B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China, and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. His postdoctoral training was at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute under Nobel laureate William Kaelin. Dr. Yan has received numerous awards, including the ASIP Outstanding Investigator Award and the Era of Hope Scholar Award from the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program. He is actively involved in various research and academic communities and serves on several peer review committees.
